About Beakpoint
Bringing clarity, ownership, and control to cloud costs
Our Story
Beakpoint was born from the realization that cloud costs are a significant and growing problem, and that SaaS companies are frustrated in ways that go deeper than just not knowing their bill. They can’t see into the black box. They can’t control it. And perhaps most painfully, nobody actually owns it — cloud costs fall through the cracks between engineering, finance, and the business.
Our founder experienced firsthand how complex and opaque cloud expenses can be, sparking a mission to create a solution that brings clarity, ownership, and control to a critical component of many companies’ operations.
We believe that most cloud users are left in the dark — without the tools needed to understand what drives their cloud spending, and without the insight needed to act on it. This lack of visibility leads to wasted resources, missed opportunities, and frustration across all levels of an organization.
This is a story of empowerment. We aim to equip companies with the ability to not just understand costs, but to leverage that understanding to drive better business decisions — whether that means reducing cloud spend, changing how a product is priced and packaged, or deciding which customers to pursue.
Ultimately, we envision Beakpoint becoming the standard for demystifying the drivers of cloud costs, and the thought leader around how companies can analyze their cloud costs to make better business decisions and increase profitability.
Meet Our Founders

Alan Cox
CEO and Co-Founder
Alan Cox founded Beakpoint after experiencing firsthand the frustration that comes with mysterious cloud costs. As a technology leader who has spent over two decades building and scaling software organizations, he's seen how cloud expenses can spiral out of control.

Ron Nelson
CRO and Co-Founder
Ron Nelson co-founded Beakpoint Insights after experiencing a persistent disconnect between sales success and technical reality. As a VP of Sales, he found himself bringing in massive enterprise deals, only to realize the leadership team couldn't confirm if they were actually profitable.
Our Values
"Say the hard thing"
We push into uncomfortable conversations - with customers, with each other, with the data. If something's broken, we name it. If an idea is wrong, we say so. Innovation lives on the other side of awkward.
"Strong opinions, loosely held"
We hire smart people, then actually listen to them. No one owns the truth here - the best idea wins, regardless of title or tenure. We'd rather be proven wrong fast than be wrong slowly.
"We don't tap out"
Cloud cost problems are gnarly. Customers are depending on us. We dig in, figure it out, and ship. We're not looking for people who need perfect conditions - we're looking for people who make progress anyway.
"Walk in their shoes first"
Before we build, we listen. Before we assume, we ask. Whether it's a customer drowning in a cloud bill or a teammate having a rough week - we lead with understanding. It's not soft. It's how we build things that actually work.
